Production Quest

Learn music production by playing, not watching. Four in-browser challenges train your ears and your instincts — earn XP, level up, and unlock badges. Free, no account, nothing to install.

Learn by doing, not by watching

Most people "learn" music production by binging tutorials — and retain almost none of it, because watching someone else EQ a snare is not a skill. Production Quest flips that: every challenge makes you do the thing. You program the pattern, you spot the frequency, you feel the tempo. Short feedback loops, instant scoring, and a little XP dopamine keep you practicing the fundamentals that actually transfer to your DAW.

Ear training that sticks

Recognizing a 250 Hz mud build-up or a harsh 4 kHz presence peak by ear is the single highest-leverage mixing skill. Golden Ears EQ drills it in minutes a day.

Rhythm you can trust

Beat Builder and Tempo Trainer build pattern memory and an internal clock — so grooves, edits, and delay throws land in the pocket instead of near it.

Theory in small bites

The Studio Quiz covers compression, loudness, gain staging, and sync licensing — each answer comes with a one-line explanation you'll actually remember.

Frequently asked questions

Is Production Quest really free?

Yes. It's a free learning game from TuneLens. It runs entirely in your browser, there's no account required, and nothing is uploaded — all audio is generated on your device with the Web Audio API.

Do I need a DAW or any equipment to play?

No. Everything happens in the browser. Headphones or decent speakers help — especially for the EQ ear-training challenge — but any laptop or phone works. What you learn transfers directly to any DAW: Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic, Cubase, or Reaper.

What music production skills does the game teach?

Four core skills: programming and hearing drum patterns (Beat Builder), recognizing frequency ranges by ear (Golden Ears EQ), internalizing tempo and groove (Tempo Trainer), and studio theory like compression, loudness, and sync licensing basics (Studio Quiz).

Does my progress save?

Yes — XP, levels, and badges are saved locally in your browser, so your progress is there when you come back on the same device. No sign-up needed.
